  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece ginger, grated
  • 1.5 lbs beef chuck or stewing beef, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 large tomato, pureed
  • 1 cup beef broth or water

Instructions

  1. Mix the spices (coriander, cumin, turmeric, paprika, red chili powder, garam masala) in a small bowl and set aside.
  2. Heat oil in a large deep pan over medium heat. Sauté onions until golden brown (about 10 minutes), then add garlic and ginger; cook until fragrant (1–2 minutes).
  3. Increase heat to medium-high and add beef; sear until browned (5–7 minutes).
  4. Stir in the spice mix and toast for about 30 seconds.
  5. Add pureed tomato and broth; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 60–75 minutes.
  6. Adjust seasonings as needed before serving with fresh cilantro on top.
