Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup Dutch-process cocoa powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg, plus 1 egg yolk, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the brownie cookie dough by mixing butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla, then combine dry ingredients before adding chocolate chips.
  3. For the chocolate chip cookie dough, cream together cold butter and sugars, then add eggs one at a time. Mix in vanilla and dry ingredients, folding in chocolate chips.
  4. Form dough balls using both mixtures, rolling them together into larger combined balls.
  5. Bake for 8-9 minutes until edges are set but tops remain slightly underbaked. Cool before transferring to wire racks.
