  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough by mixing flour, sugar, salt, and butter until crumbly. Combine with eggs, water, and lemon juice to form a dough. Chill for 30 minutes.
  2. Toss sliced apples with sugars, cornstarch, cinnamon, lemon juice, and vanilla.
  3. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a baking pan.
  4. Roll out the larger dough piece to fit the pan and press into place. Fill with apple mixture.
  5. Roll out remaining dough for the top crust, seal edges, and cut vent holes.
  6. Bake for 45–50 minutes until golden brown. Cool completely before glazing with a mixture of powdered sugar, milk, melted butter, and vanilla.
