  • 1 cup warm milk
  • ¼ cup melted unsalted butter
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 33.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour (for topping)
  • 34 tablespoons water (for topping)
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup (for glaze)
  • 23 teaspoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Combine warm water, yeast, and sugar in a bowl; let sit until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, mix warm milk, melted butter, remaining sugar, cinnamon, salt, and vanilla.
  3. Add the yeast mixture to wet ingredients and gradually incorporate flour until soft dough forms.
  4. Knead on a floured surface for 5–7 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place dough in greased bowl; cover and let rise until doubled (about 1 hour).
  6. Punch down dough and fold in raisins. Divide into 12 pieces and shape into buns.
  7. Allow shaped buns to rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare cross topping with flour and water.
  9. Pipe crosses on buns before baking for about 22 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Cool slightly then drizzle with glaze made from powdered sugar, maple syrup, and milk.
