  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon red food coloring (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash and thoroughly dry the apples. Insert sticks into the stems and set aside on parchment paper.
  2. In a heavy saucepan, mix together sugar, water, corn syrup, food coloring, and cinnamon. Whisk until sugar dissolves.
  3. Bring to a boil but avoid stirring; gently swirl the pan every few minutes.
  4. Continue boiling until the mixture reaches hard crack stage (310°F-320°F), about 10-15 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and quickly dip each apple into the hot candy mixture, then place them on the prepared baking sheet to cool completely.
