Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup salted butter (1 stick)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 14 oz can evaporated milk (warmed)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1012 small/medium Granny Smith apples
  • Craft sticks
  • Parchment paper

Instructions

  1. Prepare the apples: Remove stems and rinse under hot water to eliminate wax. Dry thoroughly and chill in the refrigerator.
  2. Make the caramel: In a heavy-bottom saucepan over medium heat, combine butter, sugar, and corn syrup. Stir continuously until boiling, then gradually add warmed evaporated milk while maintaining a boil. Cook until the mixture reaches 235-240°F using a candy thermometer.
  3. Dip the apples: Insert craft sticks into chilled apples and dip them into the warm caramel, allowing excess to drip off.
  4. Add toppings if desired while the caramel is still warm.
  5. Place dipped apples on parchment paper and let cool completely before serving.
