  1. Rinse asparagus under cold water and trim off tough ends.
  2. Blanch asparagus in boiling salted water for 2 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp. Immediately transfer to an ice bath to cool.
  3. While asparagus cools, prepare cherry tomatoes and red onion.
  4. In a large bowl, combine blanched asparagus, cherry tomatoes, red onion slices, and crumbled goat cheese.
  5. Drizzle olive oil and balsamic vinegar over the salad; season with salt and pepper to taste. Toss gently.
