  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 yellow onion
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 ½ cups mixed frozen vegetables
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups half and half
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup sour cream
  • 3 tablespoons salted butter
  • ¼ cup flour
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon mustard powder
  • ¼ teaspoon ground sage
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt/Pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Peel and chop potatoes; boil until fork-tender. Mash with sour cream and set aside.
  2. In a large pot, cook ground beef until browned; drain excess fat and set aside.
  3. Sauté diced onion and minced garlic in butter until softened.
  4. Whisk in flour, then gradually add chicken broth while stirring.
  5. Incorporate seasonings and half and half; bring to a simmer.
  6. Stir in mashed potatoes, then mix in cooked beef and frozen vegetables.
  7. Top with shredded cheese and season to taste before serving hot.
