Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup plus 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup white granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Prepare the brown butter by melting it in a saucepan over medium heat until it turns golden brown and emits a nutty aroma. Let it cool slightly.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the cooled brown butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until well combined. Add vanilla extract and eggs; mix until smooth.
  3. In another bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt, and cornstarch. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring just until combined.
  4. Gently fold in both semi-sweet and mini chocolate chips using a rubber spatula.
  5. Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes (optional but recommended).
  6. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Scoop dough onto a prepared baking sheet, spacing them about two inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden and centers remain soft. Cool on the baking sheet before transferring to wire racks.
