Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 8 oz white chocolate, finely chopped
  • ½ cup mini chocolate chips
  • Red food coloring (a few drops)
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream (for topping)
  • 1 tbsp fine granulated sugar (like Dixie Crystals Extra Fine)
  • ½ cup light corn syrup (for sugar rim)
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 cup fine granulated sugar
  • Red gel food coloring

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine heavy cream, vanilla extract, and sugar. Use an electric mixer on medium-high speed until stiff peaks form. Set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine whole milk, heavy cream, vanilla extract, chopped white chocolate, and mini chocolate chips. Heat over medium-low heat while stirring occasionally until the mixture is hot and the chocolate has melted completely. Be careful not to boil or burn the mixture. Add a few drops of red food coloring to create a blood-tinted effect. Stir well until combined.
  3. Pour into mugs and top generously with whipped cream.
  4. In a small saucepan, combine light corn syrup, water, and sugar. Heat on medium without stirring until the mixture reaches 300°F (the hard crack stage) on a candy thermometer. Remove from heat and stir in red gel food coloring until well blended. Quickly dip clean glass rims into the mixture to coat them thoroughly. Set upright to allow excess sugar to drip off and harden for that “bloody” effect.
