  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 chicken hamburger buns
  • 1/4 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • Thin sliced raw onion
  • Sliced tomato
  • Crisp lettuce leaves

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sauté diced onions for 5 minutes until soft. Set aside to cool.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the beaten egg, dried rosemary, dried thyme, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Add cooled onions to the mixture, then incorporate ground bison until just combined. Form into four ½-inch thick patties.
  4. Chill patties in the refrigerator for up to 6 hours or freeze for about 20 minutes.
  5. Cook on a skillet or grill for 5–7 minutes per side until the internal temperature reaches 160°F.
  6. Serve on toasted chicken buns with your favorite toppings.
