  • 2 teaspoons red liquid food coloring
  • 2 teaspoons blue liquid food coloring
  • 9 cups Chex cereal
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup smooth peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Prepare three large plastic bags with equal amounts of powdered sugar; add red and blue food coloring to two bags.
  2. Knead each bag until the sugar is uniformly colored.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, measure out the Chex cereal.
  4. Melt butter, chocolate chips, and peanut butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat; stir until fully melted.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
  6. Pour the chocolate mixture over the Chex cereal in three stages, folding gently after each addition.
  7. Divide the coated cereal among the colored sugar bags; toss to coat evenly.
  8. Transfer to a wax paper-lined baking sheet and chill for one hour until set.
