  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 stalks celery (chopped)
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 3 carrots (chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 cans stewed tomatoes (14.5 ounces each)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar (instead of Worcestershire sauce)
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour (for dredging)
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dredge by mixing flour, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and paprika in a shallow dish.
  2. Dredge cube steaks lightly in the flour mixture until coated and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat vegetable oil and brown the steaks for about 2–3 minutes per side.
  4. Place browned steaks in the slow cooker and layer chopped carrots, celery, and onion on top.
